Robert J. (Nick) Morton, 49, of 26 Bell Drive, Cortlandville, died yesterday, Apr. 28, 1976 at home. Born in Dryden, Mr. Morton was the son of the late John and Mary Hennessey Morton. He was a self-employed service station operator, and formerly served on the board of directors of the Services Station Operators of Central New York. A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Morton was a member of the Carrington-Fuller American Legion Post, Groton. He was past president, district director and zone chairman of the Lions Club of Homer. Mr. Morton was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus, a former member of the Elks of Homer and the Cortland Moose Club. He also belonged to the Cortland Chamber of Commerce and United Commercial Traveler’s Association. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pauline Tagliente Morton; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Gagnier; a son, Steven of Cortland; four brothers, Donald, James and Thomas, all of Cortland, and Edward; and three sisters, Mrs. Alice Cregg of Massachusetts, Mrs. Margaret Harris and Mrs. Agnes Cross. Services will be at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the H. Patrick McEvoy & Bush Funeral Home, 122 Tompkins St., Cortland, and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Cortland. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cortland. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
