Olivet Wilson was the wife of Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry Harry D. Wilson (1869-1948), a native of Independence, Louisiana, who served from 1916 to 1948.

She was the mother of seven, including Cajun chef and humorist Justin E. Wilson (1914-2001). She was an expert at the improvisation of meals and taught Justin, her youngest child, how to cook. She was also an accomplished pianits and played while in her nineties.

She was the mother-in-law of Louisiana Attorney General Bolivar Edwards Kemp, Jr.
