JOHN BECKSTRO(U)M,
PIONEER, IS DEAD
John G. (Gustaf) Beckstrum, one of the oldest residents of Forest Hill and one of the best known men on the Divide, died in San Francisco Sunday following an operation on his throat, which was the third operation that had been performed with hopes of relieving his suffering.
Deceased was 71 years of age, and had been a resident of Forest Hill for a period of over forty years. During his younger days he followed mining and was a most successful miner. Later in life he engaged in the brewery business, from which he retired a few years ago on account of ill health.
He leaves two sons, F. P. Beckstro(u)m (Franklin Pierce Beckstrum), and Gus J. Beckstro(u)m (Gustaf John Beckstrum), both of whom are residents of Forest Hill.
The funeral will be held at Forest Hill tomorrow under the auspices of the Odd Fellows.
