Herbert Stalcup, 45, a resident of RFD, Vienna, died at Barnes hospital in St. Louis after an illness of several months. He was son of Thomas Stalcup, deceased and Mabel Simmons Pollard and was born in Grantsburg August 9, 1919. He was married to Lucille J. Nolan at Palmyra, Mo., June 14, 1942. Surviving are his wife; mother; a son, James Lee, Springfield; a daughter, Shirley at home; a daughter-in-law, Janet, Springfield and a grandson, James Michael, Springfield. A son Thomas Allen is deceased. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. June Campbell, Vienna; brothers, Jack Stalcup and Joe Stalcup, Waldorf, Md. Virgil Paul, another brother is deceased.

Mr. Stalcup served in the U. S. Air Service in World War II. He was on the city police force at Wood River from 1952 to 1960. He was employed as an aide at the Anna State Hospital when he became ill. He was a member of the Grantsburg Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Mount Funeral Home with Rev. Louie Simmons officiating.

Interment followed in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Walter Scott, Bob Scott, Raymond Scott, Robert Straub, Mr. Lloyd and Junior Estes.
