Mrs. Thomas Grogan of Freeland Park died at the St. Elizabeth hospital in Lafayette last Sunday morning. Anna Dorothea Kennedy was born in Cherubusco, Indiana, on February 19, 1879 and departed this life following a serious operation in St. Elizabeth's hospital, Lafayette, on May 4, 1919. She was united in marriage to Thomas Grogan, January 15, 1908 at Garrett, Indiana. To this union were born four children: Bernard 10; Patrica 7, Joseph 4, and Rita Elizabeth, one week old. Mrs. Grogan was a woman of the highest character, whose kindness and sweet disposition won her a host of friends. Truly, 'to know her was to love her and she leaves a great void and an aching place that can never be filled. Her simple faith was of the greatest comfort to here and by her life she made that faith beautiful to all who saw. To her husband she was a devoted wife; her last words and smile were for him. To her children she was a tireless mother, fulfilling in the highest sense every part of a mother's duties. To her relatives she was most dear because of her happy-hearted forgetfulness of self, her untiring efforts to ease their ways. To all who knew her, husband, children, relatives and friends, Mrs. Grogan meant all that a noble, true woman can ever mean. Her death was a great shock to everyone and a sense of irreparable loss is upon all. A young mother can ill be spared but her martyrdom has won for her God's gracious smile and her well earned rest shall have it's reward. She went to meet her judge with unfaltering faith, clinging closely to the Cross, and her trusting bravery will be a continued source of inspiration to her loved ones. Services were conducted in St. Mary's at Dunnington, Father Dhe assisting Father De LaGrange. The interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery. She leaves to mourn her going, her husband, four children, mother, five brothers, three sisters and a large number of other dear relatives. Her father and one sister preceded her in death. Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral services were: Mrs. Kathryn Smith and daughters, and Joseph Kennedy of Chicago; Mrs. Teresa Dyer of Elwood; Patrick Kennedy of Lima, OH; Mrs. Will Kennedy and children of Garrett, IN; James Maloney, Mrs. Ellen Madden and daughter and J.S. Maloney of Cherubusco, IN: Mrs. Julia Finney of Anderson; Joseph and Nora Messman of Rensselaer; D.E. Harrington and family, Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien and family of Wadena; Mrs. Ray Thompson of Indianapolis, R.J. Grogan and Family, Ed Walters and family, Mrs. Malledy, Mrs. Burns, Mrs. Farrell, Ed Smith and family of Otterbein; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gillispie and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Shipps of Oxford; Mesdames Schuh of Kentland.
