Mrs. Kratzmeyer was born on Apr. 24, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., to Nunzio and Genevieve (Barcia) Guzzetta, and graduated from high school in Chicago. She had lived in the Chicago area most of her life. Micki was a lifelong devout Catholic and the consummate nurturer, always caring for others and especially her family.
On Nov. 10, 1951, in Chicago, she married John J. "Jack" Kratzmeyer Jr.,who preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Libby Trippi, Joseph Guzzetta, Frank Guzzetta, Mary Smith and Rosalie Givens.
Surviving family includes her children, John L. (Kathleen) Kratzmeyer of Chicago, Pam (David) Jarrett of Granger and Ellen (John Gray) Kratzmeyer of Chicago; grandchildren, Corey, Kevin, Steven, Kaitlin, John, Annie, Michael, John and Hayley; many nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Nicolina Kratzmeyer will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18th, in Saint Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, by the Rev. William Schooler of the parish. The family will receive relatives and friends in the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Committal rites will be read at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, Ill., by the Rev. Ronald Navoy of Saint Emily Catholic Church, Mount Prospect, Ill.
Micki's family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Northern Indiana Affiliate, 227 S. Main, Ste. 101, South Bend, IN 46601. Arrangements were made by Halbitter Funeral Home, Niles.
