Albert S. Smolko, 72, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, in Medina.
He was born July 5, 1935, in Barnesboro, Pa. Mr. Smolko retired after 28 years of service as a state trooper for the Ohio State Highway Patrol. In his retirement he was a site supervisor for the Northern District of Ohio AKAL Security. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Ohio Troopers Coalition.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Smolko (nee Ritter) of Medina; sons, Matthew (Meiko) Smolko of Hawaii, James (Allyson) Smolko of California and Jeffery Smolko of Medina; daughters, Theresa Grayshaw and Sheryl (Michael) Equt of Medina and Carol (Craig) Stower of Findlay; stepdaughter, Kimberly (Wayne) Garner of Wooster; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Rose (Dan) Kelty of Virginia; and brother, Dennis (Bonnie) Smolko of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Smolko (nee Sowle), and one grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina. The Rev. Mark Hollis will officiate.
Burial: St. Francis Cemetery, Medina.
