He retired after working for 41 years as a telegrapher for the New York Central Railroad system and was a member of the Boulette Skyten American Legion Post. He was awarded the Silver Star Citation in World War I and was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. John's Church.
He leaves his wife, Mrs Lora Barnard Young; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Chapin of East Brookfield, Mrs. Omer St. Germain of Auburn, and Mrs Richard Lacroix of Spencer, and seven grandchildren.
Richard Young died on March 21, 1959. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery. His wife, Lora, was born on Mar 11, 1893 and later died on Jan 1981.
