M. Madeline (Orwig) Reichard died February 15, 1986 at York Hospital. She was the widow of the late Palmer Reichard who died in 1969. Madeline was born in Tolna, PA, to the late Henry S. and Mary (Hannigan) Orwig. She is survived by two sons Evans Reichard of New Freedom and Carl Reichard of Seven Valleys; two daughters Shirley Smith of Pittsfield, MA and Dagmar Wirz of Seven Valleys. Also surviving are her sister Artheda Wolfe of New Freedom and three brothers: Ivan Orwig and David Orwig, both of Shrewsbury and Richard Orwig of New Freedom. She leaves six grandchildren and one great grandson.

She was employed by the former New Freedom Department Store and the former Glen Rock Variety Store, retiring in 1974. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, a former counselor of Goldenrod Council 24, Daughters of America; former secretary of Rose Fire Co. Auxiliary, and was a former Democratic committee person in New Freedom Borough.
