Excerpt -- Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2:30 p.m. at Shay's Chapel for William Lawrence, age 86, who died here last Thursday. Mr. Lawrence had been in failing health for some time. He served as a teamster in the Civil War, was a member of the M. E. Church and had lived in this vicinity for nearly 70 years. Surviving him are the following; one brother, Peter; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Shahan of near Fellowsville; one son, William of Morgantown, and five daughters, Mrs. J. I. Murray, with whom he had resided here for the past ten years, Mrs. W. W. Poulson and Mrs. Zinn, both of near Newburg, Mrs. M. M. Bolyard and Mrs. Amanda Shaw of near Tunnelton. Rev. Dotson, pastor of the church here, was in charge of the funeral, and A. C. Sinclair local undertaker, was in charge of the body. Interment in Shay's Cemetery.
