1765 John moved to Bedford co., PA and joined Tonoloway Baptist church in 1766. Lived along Tonoloway Creek and owned 300 acres. John was Justice of the Peace in Bethel Township Bedford cnty, Penn in 1777. Helped survey a road from his plantation to Henry Warford's plantation in Bethel Township in 1773. One of the patriots of Bedford County, attending a meeting for independence. Private, list of Rangers on the frontier of Bedford Co, 1778-1783. Penna. Arhives 5th Ser V., 4, pg 246; V 5 pg 118" Taxed in Belfast township in 1785.
