Mrs. Sylvia Louise Barfield McDowell, 58, of Rt. 3, Box 1190, Pelham, Georgia - Wilder Road, Grady County, passed away on Friday, December 10, 1993, at her place of residence.
Mrs. McDowell was born in Grady County on June 15, 1935 to the late Etta Viola Brinson Barfield and the late Ambry Peyton Barfield. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She was married to Mr. Horace McDowell on November 8, 1954, who survives. She was retired from Goody Products.
Services were held on Sunday, December 12, 1993 at 3 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church. The Rev. Roger Brinkley and Rev. Richard Hughes officiated. Interment followed at Macedonia Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Max Childs, Elwyn Childs, Laurice Sellers, Dennis Cox, Sonny Scully, Wayne Spence, Jerry Humphries, Henry Cox, Alan Smith and Roger Brinson.
Survivors include her husband Horace McDowell of Pelham, Georgia; two sons, Ricky McDowell of Pelham, Georgia, and Horace McDowell, Jr. of Hartsfield, Georgia; two daughters, Mrs. Serease Layton and Mrs. Sherry Palmer, both of Meigs, Georgia; and ten grandchildren. Braswell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
