Walter "Carl" Rippey, oldest son of James Benjamin Rippey (1878-1955) and Nancy Ellen Surratt (1882-1928) married Rachel Violet Cosner in 1931. He moved from Carroll Co., VA, to Fluvanna Co., VA, in 1920, then to Grant Co., WV, in 1931. He died tragically on New Year's Eve 1944 just hours after a nighttime trainyard accident that occurred while he was at work.
