R. Geraldine Punt Barnes (Benes) of Pleasant Gap, and formerly of Osceola Mills, passed away on Feb. 18 at the Oaks in Pleasant Gap.
She was the daughter of the late Earl and Ruth (Peters) Frazier.
She was a member of St. Laurence Episcopal Church in Osceola Mills, the American Legion and she served in the US Army as 2nd Lt. and was a nurse in World War II.
She was a retired school nurse for the Philipsburg-Osceola School District.
She graduated from teh former Osceola Mills High School, class of 1934. She later graduated from Jefferson Medical School in 1938 and did post-graduate work in psychiatric nursing at the former University of PA in Philadelphia. She earned her bachelor of science in public school nursing from Indiana University and a masters degree in guidance from Indiana University.
She married Paul W. Barnes, who passed away in August 1999.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Louise R. Griffith, brother Byron Frazier, former husband Arnold W. Punt and grandson Steven Frazier Bezilla.
She is survived by granddaugher Elizabeth Bezilla of Washington, DC and daughter Rena F. Bezilla and her husband Lynn S. of Columbia, MD.
A memorial service will be held on Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Oaks in Pleasant Gap with the Rev. Carla Williams officiating.
Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
