Elizabeth (Beth) Hawkins Biggerstaff, 99, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Friday, October 15, 2021 at her home in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. A native of Cliffside, North Carolina, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Ben and Minnie Hawkins. Elizabeth worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. Hunt in Cliffside. She also worked alongside her husband in his dry cleaning and several other businesses, including his chain of Little Moo restaurants. She was an active member of the Methodist and Baptist churches of Cliffside and later the First Baptist Church of Shelby. Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends, traveling, crocheting, gardening, cooking, and living at the beach. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart. Elizabeth was an incredible blessing to her family.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her brothers George and Harry Hawkins and their wives; her nephew Mike Hawkins, her niece Pam Hawkins; an infant son Ronald; and her husband, Joseph (Jobie) Biggerstaff. She is survived by her daughter June Biggerstaff; her daughter Jan Hames and husband Bob Hames; nephew Danny Hawkins and wife Judy Hawkins of Shelby; niece Toni Hawkins; grandchildren Hope Putnam, Kimberly Stroup and husband Gene Stroup; and great-grandchildren Landon Putnam and Jamie Stroup. A celebration of her life and receiving of friends will be held 4pm Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in the A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel at Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside.
