UNA E. MERRICK DIES IN HOSPITAL
Shelbyville Man Succumbs After Having Undergone Operation
After having undergone an abdominal operation, Una E. Merrick, 52 years old, of 610 South Pike Street, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday in the Major Hospital, where he had been a patient for the last four weeks.
Mr. Merrick was born June 28, 1886, in Macon, Missouri, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Merrick. He came to Shelby county with his parents when he was a boy. The family resided in Marion township for a few years and then moved to Fairland, remaining there for 15 years, after which time Mr. Merrick came to Shelbyville. He had been a paperhanger for many years.
He was married to Minerva Jayne Jonas, of Shelby county, who preceded him in death in 1929. Three daughters and four sons survive. The daughters are Mrs. John Swope, Helen, Dorothy and Harriet Merrick of Shelbyville, and the sons are Harold, of Shelbyville, Maurice, now serving with the U.S. Navy in China, and Walter, of Sacramento, California.
The funeral services will be conducted in the Loren H. Murphy funeral home at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in the Brandywine cemetery. Friends may call at the Murphy funeral home at any time.
