He was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Galesburg to Charles and Isabella Fowlis Meldrum. He married Doris L. Davis on May 16, 1941, in Palmyra, MO. She preceded him in death August 3, 1977. He later married Mearl Ann Serdahl on August 20, 1978, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death March 13, 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dixie Meldrum in 1941; and a sister, Jane Van Dell.
He was a mechanic for Burlington Truck Lines for many years before its closing. He retired from Butler Manufacturing Company as a welder. He was a WWII U.S. Marine veteran, serving from 1942 to 1945. Andy was a life member of American Legion Post 285 and a member of the Forty and Eight. He was active in the Galesburg Woodworking Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, working with flowers and in the yard.
Funeral will be at 11:30am Wednesday, February 25, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Ek officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 6:30pm Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, with military rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
