WALDOBORO - Leon A. Achorn, 84, died at Concord, Mass., Saturday, after a long illness. He had been a resident of Belmont, Mass., and summered at Waldoboro. Born at Waldoboro on July 7, 1892, he was the son of Clenham J. and Sadie Achorn. He was founder of the Achorn Steel Corporation of Cambridge, Mass. He was a member of Washington Lodge of Masons, Lexington, Mass. He was a member of the Royal Arch Chapter, DeMolay Commandery, Aleppo Temple, all in Massachusetts. He was a life-deacon at the Tremont Street Temple in Boston and chairman of the Executive Board of that Temple. He was also a member of the Germania Lodge, IOOF, Waldoboro. Mr. Achorn is survived by one nephew, Donald A. Achorn of Belmont, a niece, Mrs. Eleanor Kennedy of Augusta; and several cousins. Funeral services will be held in Massachusetts on Tuesday and from the Hall Funeral Home, Waldoboro, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Dr. Norman Lavers, D.D., will officiate. Interment will be at the Orffs Corner Cemetery, Waldoboro. Visiting hours will be at the Hall Funeral Home Tuesday, 7 to 9 p.m.
