Connie was raised in Grosse Ile, MI. In 1916, she graduated from the Liggett School in Detroit and went on to Columbia University in New York where she studied history of art and drama. On November 20,1917, she married Ernest Stanton in St James Church on Grosse Ile.
After he returned from France following WWI, they raised their 2 children on Grosse Ile where he founded Westcroft Gardens. She loved the stage (starring in many local productions), the outdoors, adventurous travel and her large family and many friends.
