"Bert A. Saunders Jr., age 81, Shawnee, KS, passed away at Shawnee Mission Hospital on December 24, 2002, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be Monday, December 30, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee; burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday December 29, 2002, at the chapel.
Bert was born September 15, 1921, to Bert and Jessie (Crew) Saunders. He was a graduate of Argentine High School and during World War II was in United States Navy, serving in the Pacific war areas. Bert had retired from the Bendix Corporation and King Radio Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, LaVerne Eddings, and his first wife of 51 years, Mari Lou. Survivors include his wife Jean, of the home; three daughters, Marilyn and husband Vic Andrews, Ponca City, OK, Sandy and her husband, Geoff Curtis, Shawnee, and Kathy Saunders, Olathe, KS; and stepchildren, Dick Middleton and wife Cherie, Minneapolis, MN; six grandchildren, Darren Davidson and wife Angela, Overland Park, Scott and Matt Fulgham, Olathe, Todd Andrews and wife Meredith, and granddaughter, Lisa Andrews, Scottsdale, AZ; and stepgranddaughter, Lisa Middleton, Minneapolis; three great-grandchildren, Devin Fulgham, Carson Andrews and Gwen Davidson; step-grandsons, Derek and Ryan Curtis.
