Born in Pulaski County the son of the late William Banes and Martha Tickle Banes, he was a retired farmer.
He is survived by two sons, Bernard E. Banes, Junction City, Kan., Oakley Banes, Pulaski; one brother, William D. Banes, Dublin; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. from Millirons United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Goshen Cemetery.
Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
