Mary was the daughter of Mary (Baskin) and Rev. James Neely Carothers. Her husband was Joseph Mastin Woodall, married 5 Jan 1870 at Houston, Chickasaw Co. Mississippi.

Pioneer Resident of Houston Dies in Waco, Texas
Mrs. Mary Melle Woodall, 91, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W J Dorsett, 712 North Thirteenth street, at 4 pm Sunday. Funeral services were held from Clark's drawing room at 3:30 pm Monday. Rev. A N Wolff and Rev. A C Lane officiating, burial following in Rosemound cemetery.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Dorsett, Mrs. W C Brown of Waco, Mrs. R W Medlin and Mrs. J B Price, of Houston, Texas; a son, J Neal Woodall, of San Antonio; 21 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Mrs. Woodall was born in Green County, Alabama, and came to Waco in 1892. She was one of the earliest members of the old Second Presbyterian church and a charter member of Grier Memorial church-Waco News-Tribune, Monday, Mar. 1, 1937.

The news of Mrs. Woodall's death will be of interest to many of the older residents of the county. She was the daughter of the late Rev. J N Carothers, pioneer preacher of Chickasaw County, who held the pastorate of the Presbyterian church at Friendship and in Houston for 50 years.
Her husband was also a pioneer resident of Houston.
During the years spent here, Mrs. Woodall was loved for her sincerity and unselfishness, her life being one of service to her church and community.
Mrs. Woodall is the last member of the immediate family of the Rev. Carothers, whose name is indelibly written into the history of the Presbyterian churches
