"We are pained to announce the death of our esteemed fellow citizen Dr. Samuel Higgenbotham, for many years a practicing physician of our town but recently the surgeon of the 87th Indiana regiment. He died on last Friday, May 29th, at Triune, Tenn., of typhoid pneumonia, contracted while in the discharge of his duty in camp. His remains were brought home for burial on last Tuesday evening, and were attended to the grave on Wednesday morning by a large concourse of citizens and the Masonic fraternity of which he was a worthy and valued member."
