James Donald Litzinger, 75, of Grafton, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2005, at the residence of his daughter in Romulus, MI. He was born June 18, 1929, in Grafton, a son of the late Charles A. and Rose Mary Barlow Litzinger. He was a retired medical administrator with the VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor, MI, and a member of the Grafton Baptist Church. Mr. Litzinger was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
Mr. Litzinger is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice Jeffries Litzinger, of Grafton, whom he married November 11, 1950; six children and their spouses: James Michael Litzinger of Ypsilanti, MI; Ellen Kayrell Kirchoff and her husband, Art, of Romulus, MI; Debra June Valentine and her husband, Harry, of Dexter, MI; Teresa Ann Martin and her husband, Danny, of Gaylord, MI; Thomas Lee Litzinger and his wife, Katie, of Howell, MI; and Julie Rose Mulholland and her husband, Robert, of Ann Arbor, MI; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two brothers, Jack Litzinger, of Cherry Hill, NJ, Richard Litzinger, of Warren, OH; four sisters, Vera Duckworth, of Grafton, Carol Johns of Grafton, Sue George, of Brunswick, OH, and Dorothy Lucille Chester, of Warren, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at the Bartlett Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Harward officiating. Interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, where military graveside rites will be rendered by V.F.W. Post 3081, D.A.V Chapter 12 and American Legion Post 24. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday evening and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
