He was the son of Alvin Henry Luden, Sr. and Clare Sommer Luden.
Buddy was a graduate of Charleston High School in 1943. He attended The Citadel after serving in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II on the Cutter Duane and also in the mounted beach patrol.
He loved athletics, playing basketball for the Coast Guard and city teams and later coaching many youth sports. Buddy belonged to the Charleston and Sea Island Yacht Clubs and was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was a longtime employee of both JJW Luden & CO and Charleston Bolt & Nut Co.
Mr. Luden is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor Cameron "Mimi" Luden of Charleston; one daughter, Sharon L. Kreidler and husband Bruce of Alexandria, VA; two sons, Wayne C. Luden and wife Leslie of Charleston and Richard A. Luden and wife Norma of Charleston; five grandchildren, Lindsay Welch, Grayson Kreidler, Meredith Luden, Lauren Luden, and Cameron Luden; and four great grandchildren.
