John Michaels died at his job at Medaille College. He was beginning a class in Computer Information Systems in Huber Hall 215 at the time of his death. He had worked at Medaille College since 2001 as a Guest Lecturer and Clinical Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems.
He had previously worked at IBM as a system engineer, and had experience in information technology planning, computer operations and programming, and information technology consulting. Michaels also earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Canisius College.
