Brazil-Harry E Modesitt, 74, of 209 N Columbia St. died at 2:19 p.m. Thursday in Clay County Hospital. He retired in 1978 after 35 years as an operator at I.M.C. in Terre Haute. He was born Dec 24, 1915 in Clay County to Altha L. and Pearl Stevens Modesitt. Survivors include his wife, Anna H. Courtney Modesitt; one son, Thomas W. of Brazil; five sisters, Violet Langdon, Audrie Porter, Carlee Evans, Hazel Loughmiller and Betty Barnett, all of Brazil; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was a member of Church of Christ, was a Quarter Master with the United States Navy during World War II and attended Van Buren school through eighth grade. Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Lawson-Slack Funeral Home. Burial is in Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday and before services.
