AAGAARD, ROBERT "BOB" DEAN, 80, of Tavares, FL passed away on February 9, 2009. He died in his home with his family at his side.

Bob was born October 19, 1928 in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Hans and Inger Aagaard. Bob spent his childhood on a farm.

He later served in the United States Army. After returning from the Korean War he married Ardyce June Petersen on June 5, 1949, residing in Iowa where Bob learned the construction business from his father.

Bob and Ardyce moved to Florida in 1957 where they built homes and Bob later co-founded Aagaard-Juergensen General Contractors in 1970, retiring from the firm in 1985 and moved to Lake County. Bob and Ardyce spent many years traveling the United States and abroad. They made many memorable trips in their motor home meeting up with friends and family along the way. Bob enjoyed their annual fishing trips to Canada. Bob especially enjoyed visiting his homeland Denmark along with his wife and all of their children. Nothing made Bob happier than spending time with his family and friends. He loved to laugh, joke, and make everyone happy. A very special man to all who knew him. Watching the sunset from his easy chair at his lakefront home became one of his greatest pleasures. Bob was a past member of the Moose Lodge, SPEBSQSA, and supporter of Sweet Adelines Sound of Sunshine Chorus and Quartets. Every performance was "the best he ever heard"!

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Ardyce; sons Dennis (Kris) of Sanford; Douglas (Terry) of Eustis; David (Cindy) of Tavares; a daughter Deanna Simpson of Tavares; sister Maxine Nelson of Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his many friends he considered family. Visitation will be at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, on Friday, February 13th, 6:30PM-8:30PM. Graveside services will be held at Tavares Cemetery, Saturday, February 14th, 10AM, Pastor Dustin Aagaard officiating. Pallbearers are grandsons. Friends and family are invited to attend a Lakeside Celebration of Bob's life immediately following graveside services at Bob and Ardyce's home. The family would like to thank the staff at Cornerstone Hospice for their care, support, and kindness during this special time. Memorial donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778 or your favorite charity.
