KOPPERSTON - Franklin B. "Mick" Acord, 62, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at a Charleston hospital following a short illness.

Born Jan. 18, 1938, in Clear Fork, he was the son of the late Hiram "Jack" Acord (1910-1970) and Mary Lonia Graham-Acord (1914-1987).

Mr. Acord had been a resident of Wyoming County most of his life. He was a retired preparation plant foreman at Wharton No. 2 Tipple and a member of Pentecostal House of Prayer, Lynco.

He was preceded in death by a son, Rondall Acord (Deceased); a sister, Mary Acord (Deceased); and a brother, Jimmy Acord (Deceased).

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Delain Green-Acord (1939-2012) whom he married on March 22, 1957 in Matheny, Wyooming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1939, Page 482, Application Date: March 20, 1957); two daughters, Debra Acord-Ballard and her husband, Keith, of Danville and Sherry Acord-Woodie and her husband, Jerry, of Barrett; three brothers, Ambers Acord of Kopperston, Bobby Acord of Clear Fork and John Acord of Lynco; two sisters, Lucille Varney and Betty Johnson, both of Oceana; and three grandchildren, Danielle, Shawn and Daniel.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Evans Memorial Chapel, Oceana, with Pastor Firg Proffitt and the Rev. Tennis Hatfield officiating. Entombment will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny.
