Claud Brown rites are held in Spirit Lake Funeral services were held from Immanuel Lutheran church at Spirit Lake last Saturday for Claud E. Brown, 80, a resident of the Lakefield community for 40 years. Mr. Brown died last Wednesday when he was stricken with a sudden heart attack. He was born June 2, 1892 at Jerico Springs, Mo., to Lee and Rosa Teters Brown. He attended country schools in Missouri and served in the United States Marine Corps in 1918-19. He was united in marriage to Alma Linge at Storm Lake, Iowa, on Nov. 25, 1919. They farmed in the Lakefield area, moved to town here and then moved in recent years to Spirit Lake. They were members of Immanuel Lutheran church here and became members of Immanuel Lutheran also in Spirit Lake after moving there. Mr. Brown was also a member of the Spirit Lake VFW. Surviving are his wife, Alma; one son, Lemar A. Brown, Sioux City, Iowa; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Torval Barkeim, Lakefield, and Mrs. Carl Johnson, a resident of Califorinia. Rev. M. J. Ansorge officiated at the funeral service. Interment was in the Buena Vista Memorial Cemetery, Storm Lake. The Lakefield Standard Aug. 3, 1972.
