John W. Deem, 72, of Parkersburg, died yesterday at 11:30 a.m. He was born in Wood County, a son of Hiram and Syvilla Shepard Deem, and was a lifelong resident of this county. For 32 years he was employed by Nelson Plumbing Co., retiring in 1947. He was a member of the Seventh Street Evangelical United Bretheren Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary McHenry Deem; two sons, E. W. and C. F. Deem, both of Parkersburg; four daughters, Mrs. Beulah Hoyler, Mrs. Ruth Pearson, Mrs. Frances Summers and Mrs. Lena Roush, all of Parkersburg, a brother, Roscoe Deem of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Effie Roberts of Butler, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The body was removed to Leavitt funeral home. Services will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. from the Seventh street EUB church with the Rev. H. H. Stone officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
