According to family lore the last name became "Miller" toward the end of WWI, when Lillie went out to the mailbox and changed the spelling.
Otto died suddenly while mowing his yard at the age of 94 years 5 months and 23 days.

Jackson – Otto T. Miller of Jackson, 94 years old, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon at 2:45 at the family home.
Mr. Miller was born March 31, 1880, at Gordonville. On Sept. 30, 1908, he was married to Miss Lillie May Harmon at Glen Allen. They farmed in the Gordonville area for many years, moving to Jackson in 1948.
Surviving: his wife; son, Otto L. Miller Jr., Jackson; five daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Headrick and Mrs. Edna Mae Allen, Jackson, Mrs. August Barranco, Columbia, SC, Mrs. Polly Nickerson, Kingston, NY, and Mrs. Carl Nickerson, Saugerties, NY; sister, Mrs. Pete Snell, Cape Girardeau; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Service will be held Friday afternoon at 2 at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, by the Rev. Earl E. Weis, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial is to be in Russell Heights Cemetery, Jackson.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tonight.
