Dr Ernest Linn Purdum, the son of a prominent Cambridge, Ohio dentist, Dr Urastus Clarence Purdum, was himself a 1937 graduate of University of Minnesota a School of Dentistry located in Minneapolis.
He graduated the year before his father's death in 1938.
In the 1972 directory of the American Dental Association he was in General Practice in Fall Brook, California.
Military records indicate he also served as a Captain (O-6) in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps.
According to Gary Virts*, Ernest Linn Purdum married Ruth Maxine Leaf on September 25, 1938. They had a son, Barton (Barry) Ernest, born March 7, 1942 in Hennepin, Minnesota and died December 8, 1983 in San Diego and is buried in the same cemetery (Find A Grave Memorial# 77148721) as his father.
I did find out that RUTH MAXINE LEAF was born in North Dakota and graduated from University of Minnesota in 1937. During the 1940 census they were living in Cambridge, Guernsey, Ohio and she gave her occupation as dental assistant. Any help in locating her grave site would be appreciated.
By 1943 he was in the Navy and they were living in Santa Barbara, California, by 1948 they were stationed in Bremerton, Washington.
