Troop A deployed, July 28, 1898, aboard the transport Massachusetts, from Newport News, VA, for service in the Puerto Rico campaign. Landing, August 4, 1898, at Playa, port of Ponte, PR. Troop A participated in the campaign, being assigned to the Headquarters of General Mills, and preformed detached service.

The Troop departed for the States, September 3, 1898, aboard the transport Mississippi, docking at Jersey City, NJ, September 10, 1898. He was discharged from volunteer service, November 25, 1898, New York City. Discharged from Squadron A Cavalry, December 2, 1898.

He served with his brother, Charles Stanton Adee, in Troop C, Squadron A Cavalry

World War 1, attended, Second Plattsburg O.T.C. Commissioned, Major, Infantry, December 15, 1917. Assigned, commanding the 2nd Battalion, 311th Infantry Regiment, 78th Division, at Camp Dix, NJ. Deployed to Europe, May 8, 1918, with the 311th Infantry. He saw combat in France, returned to the States, Nov. 2, 1918. Discharged from the service, Dec. 3, 1918.
