Mable was born in 1901 in Ellensburg, Kittitas County, Washington and lived there until 1942 when she moved to Fife. She moved to Puyallup in 1964. She was a member of the Tacoma Eagles Auxiliary and Women of the Moose Lodge 511 in Lakewood.
In November 1985, she told of her youth - "In 1910, we moved to Springfield, Oregon, where we lived for a year and a half. We lived in Toppenish for a year (Garfield) where Dad farmed, then came back to Ellensburg. We lived in Anna and Joe Gibson's house (on the corner of the Damman Road and Brown Road - just west of the Lower River Bridge), which had been grandpa Henry J. Stickney's; then to South Main, to the Clark Ranch below Tjossem's Mill for a year. Then to the Suver House in 1917 where Willie and I were married. In the Damman District it was called the Brockman place. In the Fairview District, near Stella Schnebley's home, when Earl or Anna were born. The Slew Bridge place, on the north side, was the first place Mabel remembered. Bertha was born next to the Danielson place. Dad built the Brunson house before they moved to Oregon. They moved to John Tucker house in about 1918. Alva Tucker and Jake Grimm were first cousins and Grandma Barnhart, too. She was born Lydia Bailes".
She remembered Grandma Tamer as a short and jolly grandma. She loved spending nights at the Gibsons - she got to wear one of Uncle Joe's fleecy undershirts to bed.
At the age of 20 years, Mabel married Willie Grimm. Their first child, a daughter named Rose, only lived 20 months. Their remaining children were George, Dorothy, Betty and John.
In 1967, the couple were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary an an open house in the Lake s Moose Lodge.
Mabel spent her last years in Puyallup. After Willie died in 1981, she moved from their home into an apartment a few blocks away. She died August 14, 1990 in Puyallup, eight days short of what would have been her 79th birthday. She is buried next to Willie at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup.
