Lester A Allensworth, 62, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Galesburg, died Monday at 2:30 AM in his sleep in his home. Death was attributed to coronary thrombosis.
He was born in Galesburg February 7, 1893, and was graduated in 1911 from Galesburg High School, where he was a member of the football team.
His first marriage was to Madeline Marsailles, and a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Fraser of Oswego, OR, was born to them. His second marriage was to Grace Schumaker of Pueblo, CO, and a daughter, Mrs. Lois Canfield of Phoenix, AZ was born to them.
In Galesburg, Mr. Allensworth was employed as a blacksmith by the Burlington Railroad. After he moved to Colorado, he was engaged in construction work and for the past 18 years he had been superintendent of the Fine Arts Center at Colorado Springs. He served in World War I, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the United Brethren Church.
Also surviving are three brothers, BK Allensworth of Boone, CO, RD Allensworth of Denver, CO and GK Allensworth of Galesburg; a sister, Mrs. Lauren Goff of Galesburg, and four grandchildren.
Mr. Allensworth, Mr. and Mrs. Goff left today to attend the funeral services, which will be held Thursday afternoon at Colorado Springs.
