GLEN DURRELL
Funeral services for Glen Durrell, former Broken Bow, Oklahoma, resident and Oklahoma forestry pioneer, will be at 2 p.m., Monday in the Methodist Church at Branson, Mo.
Durrell died Wednesday in a Topeka, Kansas hospital.
He came to the Broken Bow, Oklahoma area from Iowa in 1925 and went to work for the U.S. Forest Service. In 1927, he went to work for Dierks Forests, Inc. and in 1930 became a district forester stationed at Broken Bow.
Six years later he became state forester and held that position 11 years. In 1947, he went to Stillwater, Oklahoma where he founded the Oklahoma University School of Forestry.
Twenty years later - in 1967 - he retired. He had made his home at Hollister, Mo. since that time. Hollister is a twin city to Branson, located just across the river.
