John A. Adams, Jr., age 88, of Whitsett, Pa., died Thursday, September 2, 2004, at 1:34 a.m. in his home.

He was born November 23, 1915, in Star Junction, Pa., son of John J. and Anna (Sabolik) Adam.

For 44 years our Dad had the finest garden and the best looking yard on the Youghiogheny River on River Road in Whitsett. Friends and complete strangers often stopped to tell Dad how they admired his garden and his place-and Dad just beamed, often giving the folks vegetables from the garden to enjoy.

Dad was a man of few words. He lived simply and especially enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting-even when a deer "snuck" up on him one early morning, snorting behind him and scaring Dad to the point he fell off the log on which he was sitting. We'll miss him mightily! Life won't be the same on River Road anymore with his passing. God bless his soul and may he be with Mom right now in Heaven.

John left behind four children, Patty, John, Tom and Janice; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Perryopolis, with the Rev. Father John T. Euker as Celebrant. Interment will be in Saint John Cemetery at a later date. A Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Sunday evening at 8 p.m. Military Rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Gold Star Post 7023 and American Legion Post 752 both of Perryopolis.
