Obituary for Jacob Roush" Died - In Monroe, Iowa June 1st 1892, at the home of his daughter Mrs. James Martin. Mr. Jacob Roush aged 83 years 9 months. His decease, was chronic stomach trouble of which he had suffered for some months. Father Roush was born near Hillsboro, Highland County, Ohio Aug. 31. 1808. He was married to Miss Susanna Hawk March 16th, 1830. This union was blessed with eight children, four son's, four daughters. Feb. 6th. 1849 his companion was called from him by death. He was again united in marriage with Elizabeth Jackson, of this union there were born to them three sons and four daughters, he was the father of fifteen children. This last companion was called away by death Aug. 14th 1868. He joined the German Reform Church in his youth and lived a consistant christian life for over 60 years. Few are granted so long a life as father Roush and yet his life was one of toil, he was always pleasant and cheerful, ever a kind word and loving smile for those he met in life. His life work is done and well done and he has entered into the rest promised to the finally faithful. The funeral obsequies were conducted by Rev. Smith of the M. E. Church, Wed. June 2nd after which all that was mortal of this aged father was laid to rest in the Gifford Cemetery.
