Mrs. Holder, a native of Missouri, was a China missionary until ill health forced her home about a year ago.

She married Robert Oliver Barr in 1917

Was a missionary to China and Tibet from 1946-1949. She and Ralph were in Hawaii when the tidal wave from the Aleutian Islands earthquake hit the island on April 1, 1946.

She wrote to her son from Lahaina, Maui, on the 3rd, telling her family she and Ralph were safe and the destruction they witnessed on the island.

They were waiting for passports at the time. They finally received them after cutting through a lot of red tape and made it to China near the Tibetan border.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph R. Holder; two sons, Howard and Robert Barr of Idaho; daughter; brothers, Frank Wilson of Kansas and Elgon and W. J. Wilson of Washington; sister, Mrs. Blanche Mann of Missouri.

Funeral rites for Marie Lula Holder, 52, 2415 Brundage Lane, who died Wednesday, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara Chapel with the Reverend C. M. Ward officiating. The interment will be in Bakersfield Memorial Park.
