JONES, Donald C. 86, of Wilberforce, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 27, 2009 at the Maria Joseph Care Center following an extended illness. He was born Oct. 1, 1922 in Xenia Twp., OH, the son of Gilbert H. and Rachael (Coverdale) Jones. He was an Army veteran of WWII; a graduate of Wilberforce University, Class of 1946, with a degree in English; and a member of Memorial United Presbyterian Church. He was retired from DESC after 40 years as a supervisor. During his retirement, he was actively involved with radio-control model airplanes and he loved listening to jazz music. He was married to Lurline Marie (Marmon) Jones for over 40 years, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 1994. Also preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Gladys Robinson and Ruth Jones; and a brother, Gilbert Jones, Jr.. He leaves to mourn his passing a daughter and son-in-law, Lori B. and Jonathan Murphy, of Maywood, IL; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald C. Jr. and Pam Jones, of Columbus; grandchildren, Jasmine Quintana; Derrick L. Jones; LaDana L. Jones; Robert S. Jones; Rochelle L. Jones; great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Edwin Robinson, of Missouri City, TX. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wed., March 4, 2009 at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia with Rev. Wayne McLaughlin officiating. Burial in the Dayton National Cemetery. Visitation will be Tues. evening from 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
