During the Spanish-American War (1898), he was a private in Company D, 1st Maryland Infantry. Not found in the 1900 U.S. Census, Orren J. Trieber in 1902 was listed in a Baltimore, Maryland, city directory, living with his mother. He was then a brakeman. He was at the same address in 1904, employed as a painter.
Orren J. Trieber and Nellie Matilda Frank married, and were the parents of a son, Orren, junior, born in 1913.
By 1930, Orren J. Trieber was institutionalized at the Bayview Asylum in Baltimore. He died in 1934 at the age of 58. He was survived by his wife (who later remarried), and their son.
