Jim Limber Davis was the adopted black son of Jefferson Davis, first and only President of the Confederate States of America.

His wife, Varina, found Jim being beaten by a black man and she stopped the beating, then took Jim home with her to have his injuries attended to.

She and President Davis then adopted Jim as their own child.

After the fall of the Confederacy, the Northern Union troops forcibly kidnapped Jim from his adoptive parents. The Davises never saw or heard from Jim again.
