S. Timothy Eure, 90, of Hackley Road, was taken home to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, Nov. 1, 2002.
Mr. Eure was born in Gates County, N.C., on Dec. 31, 1911 and was the son of the late Zebedee and Caroline Felton Eure. He had retired from Union Camp Corp., now International Paper in Franklin, Va., after 26 years of employment and farmed the land he loved in Gates County until his recent illness. A lifelong and active member of Eure Christian Church, he also enjoyed the fellowship of Gatesville Masonic Lodge No. 126 for more than 50 years.
Surviving are his devoted wife, friend, and companion of 68 years, Helen Felton Eure; his son, C. Raeford Eure and wife Donna; granddaughter, Lisa Caroline Eure; grandson, Curtis R. Eure Jr.; great-grandson, Timothy Parker Eure; Donna's children, Erin Teale Simmons and Archie Leland Simmons Jr., all of Virginia Beach. He also leaves behind his brothers, Delton Eure and wife Florence of Eure and Luther Eure and wife Rebecca of Gatesville; his sister, Penistene Howell of Gates; a brother-in-law, Stanley Felton and wife Shirley of Chesapeake; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Wayne Gardner, pastor. Masonic rites will be accorded in the church and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and all other times at the residence.
The family asks that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to Eure Christian Church, Hwy. 137, Eure, NC 27935.
