Mr. Iciedor Pewthers received official notice from the War Department last week that her son Lt. Robert Pewthers, has been officially declared dead. Although Robert had been missing for many months, friends and relatives continued to hold out hopes for his safety on some isolated island in the Philippine area, near which his plane was last seen. His squadron had made an attack on the enemy and were returning to their base when the group hit a storm, according to reports. Lt. Pewthers' ship disappeared from the view of his group, leaving no trace of where he might have been carried by the storm.
