Mrs. Charlie Clay Passes to Great Beyond - Opelousas and Port Barre, in fact, the entire parish was shocked Wednesday morning when notified of the death of Mrs. Juanita Holland Clay of Port Barre. Mrs. Clay was twenty-seven years of age the wife of Charlie Clay, manager of the Port Barre branch of the Opelousas - St. Landry Bank and Trust Co. Mr. and Mrs. Clay are both well known and have many friends here. Mrs. Clay is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Holland. Mr. Holland is connected with the Southern Pacific Railroad and lived in Opelousas for several years. Beside her husband and parents, Mrs. Clay leaves to mourn her departure, two brothers, Castile [sic] Holland of Minden, La., and Roscoe Holland also three beautiful little girls, the third daughter just a few days of age. The funeral left the home of Mrs. Geo. Bourgeous Thursday morning at ten o'clock. Mrs. Bourgeous is a chapter sister of the deceased. A beautiful service at the Methodist church was in charge of Rev. D. B. Boddie. Mrs. Clifford Kerr, a personal friend of Mrs. Clay, sang "Nearer My God to Thee." A symbolic Eastern service at the Myrtle Grove cemetery terminated one of the most impressive of funeral services. The Clarion takes this opportunity to join the many friends in extending sincere condolences to the bereaved.
