Melissa Lenora Hembry-Cannon departed this life on July 11, 2008, at the Manor Care Nursing Facility in Largo, MD.

Melissa (Boo) was born on November 23, 1967 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA to Vernon Melvin Hembry, Sr. and the late Christine Price Moore.

She spent her early childhood years in Louisa County, VA where she attended Louisa Elementary School and joined Wayland Baptist Church.

She moved to the Washington DC/Maryland area in her early teenage years after relocating with her mother. She received her education from the DC Public School System and then went on to pursue her passion when she graduated from Cosmetology School. Styling hair, applying make-up and staying in fashion were her passions. And right behind those passions was her love for modeling.

Melissa married her high school sweetheart Angelo Eugene Cannon, Sr. on November 30, 1992 and to this union they had four beautiful children: Angel, Angelo, Alyssa, and Antonio.

Although she lived a shorter life than most, her time here on earth was much enjoyed with her family and friends. Melissa had a kind heart and loved to tell family stories that would keep you laughing. She had a unique personality, and believed in the phrase, "dare to be different."

In addition to her mother, Melissa is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Dea. James Price, her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hembry, and her uncle Larry Price.

She leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Angelo Cannon, Sr., two daughters, Angel Hembry, and Alyssa Cannon; two sons, Angelo Cannon, Jr., and Antonio Cannon all of Suitland, MD; her father, Vernon Hembry, Sr. and stepmother, Mary of Bowie, MD; stepfather, Henry Moore, Jr. of Mineral, VA; grandmother, Annie Price of Louisa, VA; three brothers, Jerry Hembry and wife Wanda of Clinton, MD., Vernon Jr. of Louisa, VA and Lawrence Hembry of Bowie, MD.; three sisters, Katrina Hembry-Parker and Shemeka Wells of Louisa, VA and Diedre Hembry of Bowie, MD; father-in-law, Bobby Cannon, Sr.; mother-in-law, Catherine Alston; sister-in-law, Michelle Jackson; two brothers-in-law, Bobby (Sheila) Cannon, Jr. and Brian (Carla) Cannon, all of Prince George's County, MD; ten aunts, Bernice (Samuel) Thurston and Esther Corham of Louisa, VA; Lelia Woods of Detroit, MI, Jeanette (David) Hughes of Charlottesville, VA, Jean Morris of Keswick, VA, Jacqueline Morris and Rosemary Price of Louisa, VA, Mary (Dale) Barbour of Fluvanna, VA, Betty Price of Charlottesville, VA, and Sandra Terrell of Gordonsville, VA; one uncle, Earl (Adell) Hembry of Louisa, VA; one great-great uncle Spurgeon Burruss (Edna) of Washington, DC; nieces, Tiffani, Lakecia, Jasmine, Diamond, Treasure, Chelsea, and Daja; nephews, Jeremy, Bradley, Brandon, Daiquan, and Lavonte; one great nephew, Jaylen and a host of other relatives, cousins and friends.
