She was born in Acton, Ma., to Dwight and Margaret LaFollette. The family moved to Medina County, Ohio, when Jeanne was a young girl and she spent the majority of her childhood there growing up on the beloved family farm. The family moved to Fresno, in 1943, where Jeanne graduated from Fresno High School, and attended Fresno State College.
While in college, she was introduced to Hollis G. Best, and it was love at first sight. They were married in Fresno, on August 4, 1947, where they lived and raised their family of four children.
When the opportunity came for "Holly" to work in Yosemite, in 1994, Jeanne enthusiastically supported the move and they made their home there until Holly succumbed to cancer in 2003.
Jeanne was very proud to have served twice on the Fresno Grand Jury, and during her years in Fresno, she belonged to several charitable guilds and organizations where she donated her time and abundant creativity and energy. One of her true passions was the study of genealogy, and she was always searching for that one last little bit of information about someone in the family tree.
Jeanne is survived by a large extended family in the Fresno area, and beyond, who will miss and always love her.
A Happy Remembrance of her life will be celebrated with brunch at Pardinis, 2257 W. Shaw, on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Hinds Hospice of Fresno, 1616 W. Shaw, Ste., A-5, Fresno, Ca., 93711, whose wonderful help and support the family gratefully acknowledges.
