WELL-KNOWN UNION COUNTY WOMAN IS CALLED TO REWARD

Mrs. H. C. Busch Had Resided In Community For Over Forty Years

Mrs. H.C. Busch, for over forty years a resident of Union county, S.D. died at her home, sixteen miles north of Elk Point, S.D., on Monday, November 15, 1943, at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 5 days.

Gertrude Catherine Ziegler was born in Muellheim on the Ruhr, Rhineland, Germany, October 10, 1867. She came to this country in 1887, at the age of 20 years. Her first few years in the United States were spent near Ireton, Iowa. Here she married Julius Ball on February 10, 1893. In the spring of 1894 they moved to the vicinity of Alcester, S.D., where they resided for six years, going to the present family home in March, 1900. Her husband died in 1902. She later married H.C. Busch, also of the Ireton, Iowa, vicinity. He, together with eight children, survives. The children are: Freda Ball, at present at home; Richard E. Ball, of Akron, Iowa; Harry J. and Julius A. Ball, at home; Adolph W. Busch, of the U.S. Navy, on the U.S S. Elliot, off the west coast; Mrs. Kenneth Ludwig, of Alcester, S.D., and Verja and Erma Busch, at home. She is also survived by six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. August Ronsick, of Hawarden, Iowa, and Mrs. John Werely, of Struble, Iowa, and one brother, Martin Ziegler, of Sandstone, Minn., besides many other relatives.

Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Hill United Brethren church, west of town, conducted by the Rev. A.A. Howe, of Akron, Iowa, and by the local pastor, Rev. Donald Thissell. She was laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill United Brethren cemetery, beside a daughter, Lillie, who preceded her in death in 1911.
