Camden - Elizabeth Viola Erskine, 79, died Tuesday, June 9, 1992, at Penobscot bay Medical Center. She was born in Patten, August 17, 1912, the daughter of Peter and Margaret (Pelkey) King.

She was married for 53 years to Amos Bangs Erskine who died in 1984.

She attended Patten schools and trained to be a licensed practical nurse doing private duty, home nursing care and worked at local nursing homes including Camden Nursing Home. She was a member of the Searsmont Methodist Church and past member of the former Monument Square Camden Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School.

She is survived by: two sons, Albert of Warren and Ernest of Lincoln; three daughters, Margaret Ames of Searsmont, Annie Holcomb of Roby, TX, and Gloria Prentiss of Sidney; four brothers, Carroll Rines, Richard Rines, Beverly Rines and Everett Rines; one sister Lucy Burke; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call from 7-9 Thursday at Laite and Pratt Funeral Home, Camden. A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:30 pm Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mark Monson Alley officiating.
